There?s just nothing better than the chance to spend a lazy Saturday watching a movie, eating pizza while the kids build a new Lego set or play a game of Monopoly. With the new Amazing Spiderman movie being released, my kids were super excited at the chance to have a Family Night Adventure.
There are several parts to a successful Family Night adventure. You have to have good food, a great movie, something simple and relaxing to help the kids calm down after the movie and of course a fun dessert!
Since we received an advanced copy of The Amazing Spiderman DVD, we just had to find the rest of the fun!
About the Webslinger App and Google Play
My kids love the new Augmented Reality apps that take the favorite character and bring them to life through the use of the iphone camera. If they can actually enter the world of their character with the app, then we have a winning situation. This new free app allows you to unlock more content when you scan the image of the DVD or displays in Walmart. We scanned the DVD and unlocked the comic book options.
Of course, my son was a willing participant. We scanned his face and adjusted it so it fit perfectly in the comic strip. What fun for Connor to be the super hero instead of just read about it. When we went to Walmart we were on a hunt to find more displays so we could unlock more pages in the comic book.
At our local store, we were only able to find one of the displays that unlock the comic book pages. We even asked the store associate back in the media department. She said they had not been sent any of the displays and had no idea if they would get any in as it got closer for the movie to release. I?m really hoping they will get the displays in so we can go back next week and unlock more pages! The comic book feature is really fun!
When you scan the Marketside Pizza box with the Lizard or Spiderman image, you are able to see 3D reality come to life in the screen of your camera.
Relaxing Play
Our kids love legos and they love Spiderman. So when we found a Lego Spiderman set, we knew we had found the perfect after movie activity! Legos give the kids a chance to work together, follow directions and use their creativity. I love watching them create something following the directions then play together in a world fo imagination.
Our Spiderman Feast
What kind of food do you serve to keep with the spiderman theme? We chose a Supreme Marketside Pizza! This thing is big enough for our Family Night Meal plus leftovers later! We decided that red strawberries, blue Concord Grapes and Redi Whip would make a great red and blue Spiderman snack! This was a healthy, tasty, fun dessert.
The Movie
Spiderman is a story that has been told many times in many ways. But this remake is 2 Thumbs Up from my kids. As parents, we are always excited to find an action movie that appeals to my 10 year old son that isn?t graphic, bloody or full of language. Spiderman: the Amazing Adventure definitely worked for our family. We all loved it!
